Why I Support Ellen Weaver for SC Superintendent of Education

Donald Trump, in my opinion, is the best President we’ve had since Ronald Reagan (in terms of accomplishments that helped our nation). Yet he was completely an outsider to politics. Many people scoffed at a non-politician running. And many people within the system (The Deep State) refused to ever accept him.

Sometimes the best person to help reform a system is someone not directly within that system. That's why I'm supporting Ellen Weaver for the Superintendent of Education in South Carolina.

“We don’t need to be talking about politically-divisive issues in the classroom. . . . We’ve been having the same conversations in education for decades now and nothing seems to change. I believe that it can change.” - Weaver

Being a homeschool family, for years we’ve known there are thousands and thousands of great educators out there who have no degree and no public school classroom experience. With homeschool alone, there are about 3.7 million HS students in the USA, and the last SC stat I saw was more than 30K. That doesn’t include private or charter schools. And homeschool, private, and charter school families will never accept the idea that the public system is superior just because it is bigger. There are some great educators in the government-run system (I’ve known quite a few) and some not-so great ones (known a few of them too!).

I’m deeply impressed with Weaver’s leadership experience and involvement in non-traditional approaches to education. She sees the need to bring a hard focus back to the basics of phonics, literacy, critical thinking, math, and life skills like character education, personal finance, and practical trade classes.

In every state, one of the big looming battles is what to do with Critical Race Theory – and what schools (including elementary ones) will teach about gender identity. The Left will be pushing very hard the next several years on this. Weaver is deeply committed to standing up against these lies and agendas. That is one of the main reasons I believe so many solid, conservative, Christian, principled leaders in SC have supported her. Sometimes a person outside of the system is better prepared to stand up against such ideology.

In their 2022 #1 New York Times Bestseller, Battle for the American Mind, Pete Hegseth and David Goodwin share in scary detail how the Progressive Left, rooted in Marxism, has taken over many of America's institutions, including much of public education. They write, "The Right has long held the right principles, but the Left controls the positions. Changing that is part of the solution."

Some people criticize Weaver because she does not yet have the required Masters Degree, which she plans to complete before November. As a former student who earned a B.A., M.Div., and D.Min., I know that completing a degree in no way guarantees your ability for a position. What it does is simply acknowledge you completed the requirements for certain classes.

I appreciate what Dan Miller writes about education:

"What is education? Is our traditional thinking about getting a degree accurate? The dictionary defines education as 'the process of training and developing the knowledge, skill, mind, and character' of a person. With this definition we can see that education occurs in many ways and certainly is not confined to the traditional classroom." (Dan Miller, 48 Days to the Work You Love Application Guide, 136).

Dan goes on to say . . .

There is a segment of the population that believes a diploma and an education are synonymous. They aren't. I've met plenty of people with degrees from well-respected institutions who floundered because they lacked a real education. I've also met plenty of well-educated people without degrees at all. The letters behind a person's name reflect their degrees; their lives reflect their education.

Don't hear me say that formal education isn't valuable; it is. But the lack of a formal education doesn't automatically limit your potential for success. You can do great things with or without formal education. It's more about who you are right now.

I love the process of learning and have pursued that in multiple ways. Yes, I did go to college and have both a bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology. I completed my doctoral studies but never turned in a dissertation. Instead of creating a document for four old guys to read I wrote a book that a whole lot of people have read . . . and paid for! Today, I write, speak, and coach. Along the way I've owned various businesses and done everything from painting houses to selling cars. Everything I've done has been educational" (50).

Weaver's campaign’s website  and the organization she leads, Palmetto Promise Institute, impress me that Ellen is someone with plenty of experience and education to fill the shoes of this position. She worked closely for 12 years with Senator Jim Demint, and she chairs the Education Oversight Committee. Weaver received more than twenty-six endorsements from conservative, South Carolina lawmakers, including Jeff Duncan, Ralph Norman, and Tim Scott.

That’s enough for me to support her and encourage others to do the same!

The Biden Disaster

“There are so many things going wrong – and so many radically bad decisions being made – it would be useless to focus on just one issue for this column. Before we can solve anything, we need to go item-by-item to understand the insanity, incompetence, and destructiveness which historians will someday write defined the ‘Biden Disaster.’

. . . Inflation is out of control and about to get worse. The Biden administration’s spending policies are driving inflationary pressure as the Federal Reserve plans to expand an already bloated money supply to accommodate the left’s insatiable need for more cash. The stubborn policy against American oil and gas is guaranteeing pain at the pump and sending heating oil and fertilizer prices soaring. The loss of Ukraine and much of Russia as sources of food and fertilizer will guarantee higher food prices – which will cause more pain than gasoline prices. . . .

Biden’s shallow dishonesty is further exposed by American reliance on Russia to get to a deal with Iran. The theocratic dictatorship will not deal directly with America, so our negotiations are handled through the Russian ambassador. Furthermore, the Russians are demanding we lift all sanctions on their business with Iran as a price for helping Biden get to a really bad deal with the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism.”

The "Scare-Monger in Chief": Biden's Vaccine Push

Joe Biden isn't a doctor, and he's certainly not your doctor. But that hasn't stopped the president of the United States from making every Americans' health decisions for them. The "scare-monger in chief," as former Civil Rights Division leader Roger Severino calls him, has decided that when it comes to COVID, the facts, the law, and the science don't matter. You will be vaccinated, this Democratic leadership says -- and surrender every constitutional right to privacy, employment, personal safety, and free speech until you do.

When the president announced his outrageous new COVID policy, that every federal employee cough up the information on whether or not they'd been vaccinated, even the liberal media was stunned. This raises "a lot of uncomfortable questions," the AP pointed out -- not the least of which is the profound abuse of Americans' civil rights. Who's going to pay for the testing? How will religious exemptions be accommodated? If federal employees are still working remotely, will they be required to test? What about HIPPA laws? Under this shocking new intrusion into people's lives, Biden has decided to make it so burdensome for people to be unvaccinated that Severino thinks there's a massive case to be made in federal court.

Pelosi: On the Riot Side of History

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council knock it out of the park again in his commentary from Friday, July 23, entitled, Pelosi: On the Riot Side of History . .
.

"When House Democrats started clamoring for their own January 6 commission, it was never about the facts. But the last person anyone expected to admit that is Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). But this week, the California leader showed her cards when she booted two of the five Republicans off the roster because she was terrified they'd ask some hard questions. And hard questions, we all know, is not what this probe is about. Political theater is.

When House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) submitted his five names for the supposedly bipartisan investigation, Pelosi knew that Reps. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) wouldn't let her party get away with the pack of lies they've been trying to sell about that day for seven months -- namely that Republicans and their supporters were responsible for the tragedy at the Capitol. So, she made up some lame excuse that Democrats needed to protect the 'integrity of the investigation' and rejected the two conservatives. Seething, McCarthy fired back that if that's the way Pelosi wants to play it, then she can go ahead with their 'bipartisan' committee without them. 'Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts.'

'[She] just proved what we said all along,' Banks said on "Washington Watch." 'We said at the beginning that this was a political sham, a stunt by the Democrats to distract from everything going on in the country today. Democrats don't want to talk about rising crime waves around the country, inflation rampant and growing. They don't want to talk about the border crisis. They don't want to talk about the anti-Americanism and critical race theory that's being taught in our institutions [and] in our schools... They want to talk about Donald Trump. They want to talk about January 6. They want to drag Republicans through the mud and they want to drag 75 million people in America who voted for Donald Trump through the mud. That's what they want to focus on. They don't want to focus on anything else.'

I’m Making ‘Criminal Referral’ To DOJ For Anthony Fauci Because ‘He Has Lied To Congress’

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) announced on Tuesday night that he is referring Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the chief medical advisor to the president, to the Department of Justice for criminal investigation because Fauci has allegedly lied to Congress.

“You kicked off your questioning of Dr. Fauci emphasizing federal law makes lying to Congress a felony punishable by up to five years in prison,” Fox News host Sean Hannity said to Paul during an interview on Tuesday night. “Is it your belief based on the evidence, senator, that he lied before Congress and broke the law?”

“Yes, and I will be sending a letter to the Department of Justice asking for a criminal referral because he has lied to Congress,” Paul answered.

VoterGa Finds Thousands Of Fraudulent Biden ‘Votes’ In Ga.

“A new report revealed thousands of fraudulent votes were potentially cast in 2020 elections in Georgia. Election integrity group VoterGa examined ballot scans from Fulton County and found previous vote recounts had a 60 percent error.

At least 4,200 illicit votes were counted toward the final tally, including 3,400 Biden votes and 865 Trump votes. The report also found at least seven recount tallies contained fabricated vote totals. . . .

This includes a batch with 554 votes for Biden and 140 for President Trump that were counted as 850 Biden votes and zero Trump votes.”

Biden Divides Us. Here Are 12 Principles That Can Unite Us.

"Americans are woke. They woke-up and realized President Joe Biden is no moderate. He is spearheading the most radical policies in modern history, policies that would transform this nation into an unrecognizable country—far less safe, more impoverished, and more unfree.

Nevertheless, the vital issues of the day pull us together. Conservatives share a common vision for maximizing human freedom and opportunity. They are primed to unite and fight. What’s more, many Americans who do not identify as conservatives share these goals. Any national leader who champions this unifying vision will win the support of a vast swath of centrist America, and will energize conservatives in the process.

Here are 12 issues that conservatives have answers for. Together, they make up a platform that a majority of Americans can rally around."

Who is omitting God now?

Secularism’s century-old gambit to de-Christianize and secularize America added last week another abject abomination to its sacrilegious rap sheet as President Joe Biden became the first president in modern history to omit God, in word and deed, from the National Day of
Prayer Proclamation.

America, officially and practically, now no longer wants or needs God.

President Biden’s deliberate omission presents a striking example of the advancing deterioration of the American culture. The extent of this decline shows clearly in the stark contrast between the current president’s paltry prosaic profession and Democrat President Harry Truman’s radiant revelation back in 1952:

“Whereas from the earliest days of our history our people have been accustomed to turn to Almighty God for help and guidance; and

“Whereas in times of national crisis when we are striving to strengthen the foundations of peace and security we stand in special need of divine support; an

“Whereas the Congress, by a joint resolution approved on April 17, 1952 [66 Stat. 64], has provided that the President ‘shall set aside and proclaim a suitable day each year, other than a Sunday, as a National Day of Prayer, on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation’; and ...”

UK Judge Rules in Favor of Franklin Graham’s Blackpool Festival

In one of the most comprehensive rebukes of cancel culture in recent memory, a court in the United Kingdom affirmed April 1 that Christians and people of other faiths who hold traditional religious views about marriage and human sexuality are entitled to protection under the law.

Judge Claire Evans found that the defendants—the Blackpool Borough Council and its public transportation company—violated the U.K.’s Equality Act 2010 and discriminated against the Lancashire Festival of Hope with Franklin Graham when they removed bus advertisements for the event in response to complaints from the LGBTQ community about Franklin’s Biblical view of marriage. Evans said that the defendants’ actions were “the antithesis of the manner in which a public authority should behave in a democratic society.”

The judge noted that sincerely held religious beliefs about marriage, which are characteristic of Christianity and other religions, do not make the individuals or organizations that hold them “extremist.”

America Last: President Joe Biden’s First 100 Days

"
All these policies do harm to America and don’t put Americans first.

The Biden administration has already proven to be insufferably, deliberately, and totally dishonest. The past 100 days have been a tale of two stories. One is propped up by the elite media and based on big lies and the arrogance that crazy radical policies are empathetic. The other is rooted in the reality of the concerns and interests of real Americans.

With the exception of the breakout of the Civil War at the onset of Lincoln’s presidency, the Biden administration’s first 100 days have been the most radical in American history."

Sen. Tim Scott’s Powerful Response to Biden’s Address to Congress

"The American family deserves better and we know what better looks like. Just before COVID, we had the most inclusive economy in my lifetime, the lowest unemployment rates ever
recorded for African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians, and a 70-year-low, nearly, for women. Hear me, wages were growing faster at the bottom than at the top. The bottom 25% saw their wages go up faster than the top 25%. That happened because Republicans focus on expanding opportunity for all Americans.

In addition to that, we’ve passed opportunity zones, criminal justice reform, and permanent funding for historically black colleges and universities for the first time ever. We fought the drug epidemic, rebuilt our military, and cut taxes for working families and single moms, like the one that raised me.

Our best future will not come from Washington schemes or socialist dreams. It will come from you, the American people: black, Hispanic, white, and Asian; Republican and Democrat; brave police officers in black neighborhoods."

Tim Scott Reacts to ‘Uncle Tim’ Slur: ‘Literally Attacking the Color of My Skin’

Senator Tim Scott (R., S.C.) on Thursday morning slammed critics of his response to President
Biden’s address to a Joint Session of Congress, saying the Twitter trend “Uncle Tim” shows that the American left is committed to a racialized politics that leaves no room for good faith disagreement.

“It has been an amazing morning with so many good people calling, but the left has doubled down,” Scott said Thursday during an appearance on Fox News. “. . . You cannot step down out of your lane according to the liberal elite left.”

Scott called the trend on Twitter, which took off Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, “upsetting” and “so disappointing.”

100 Fails in 100 Days: Tracking the Biden Administration

The following comes from the Family Research Council:

As President Biden marks his first 100 days in office, it is an important milestone that will set the tone for the Biden administration's next four years in charge. Unfortunately, Biden's first 100 days has featured an onslaught of executive actions and policies that harm life, family, and religious freedom.

Family Research Council has been diligently tracking the Biden administration's moves every step of the way.

To keep you informed about what the Biden administration has done during the president's first 100 days in office, FRC Action released a new resource, "Tracking the Biden Administration."

On this web page you will find:

  • A list of executive actions Biden has taken against social conservative positions on life, family and religious freedom.
  • Full bios and past records on abortion/family issues for each of his key nominees.
  • A document with both Biden and Harris's past records in Congress.
  • A final Trump Administration Accomplishments document -- which can be compared to Biden's record (as well as set the bar for the next Republican administration).
  • A visible reminder of all the money that will go to abortion under Biden. In calculating this number, we chose to count any funds that either lack key pro-life protections (Hyde/Helms) or directly subsidize abortion/abortion providers. We will track this growing number throughout the remainder of his term; it's already at $479 billion.

Left-of-Century: Biden's 100 First Days

Joe Biden hasn't even been president for 100 days, and it already feels like an eternity. In just three months, the man absurdly dubbed a "moderate" has emerged from his campaign basement and dispelled that notion -- to the delight of the party's radicals. He has embraced the far-Left's all-out war on every pillar of democracy. Shell-shocked, Americans have watched this White House spend us into insolvency, inflame our divides, and lead a charge to radically makeover the Supreme Court, our states' election laws, the U.S. Senate, immigration policy, religious freedom, and human biology. He's exceeded expectations to be sure -- just not in the way most voters had hoped.

I
t's no wonder, in this flurry of leftist wish-granting, that most people in this country aren't giving Biden high marks. In a new ABC/Washington Post poll, the 46th president's approval rating at 52 percent is the lowest of any modern president except Donald Trump and Gerald Ford. "For the 14 presidents from Truman to Biden, the 100-day average is 66 percent." Biden's highest marks, ironically, come from COVID successes he can't even claim credit for, having been in set in motion months earlier under Trump's Operation Warp Speed. And yet still, the mainstream media -- the informal arm of Biden's PR team -- is even trying to spin the public's response, claiming that 52-percent approval "is the new 60."

"Any time you're over 50 in this polarized environment, that's really solid," NBC's Chuck Todd argued. "It's sort of the new 60 percent of the way when you and I grew up in the 80s and 90s." But unfortunately for him, there's no way to gloss over other numbers -- like Biden's glaring underperformance on foreign affairs, the border, and race relations. In results that are sure to be ignored by the press, Pew found that 54 percent of Americans say they disagree with the president on "most or all issues." Only 44 percent agree. A plurality think he's spending too much (48 percent), Quinnipiac points out, and on immigration, his numbers are at crisis levels -- even as he insists the actual problem is not.

Why Biden’s Blaming Trump for Border Crisis Has Zero Credibility

"After just one month, Customs and Border Protection encounters ballooned to more than 100,000, the number of unaccompanied children has risen to 16,500 and continues to climb.

Three convention centers are opening to house those children because the Department of Health and Human Services cannot find enough sponsors for them. The secretary of homeland security has ordered the Federal Emergency Management Agency to assist at the border and activated his own agency’s Volunteer Force to go to the border.

In perhaps the most desperate sign of the crisis, the Border Patrol in Texas is no longer issuing court dates to illegal aliens because it takes too long to complete the paperwork, and it simply needs to process individuals quicker. That’s a truly astonishing development.

This week, the president appointed Vice President Kamala Harris to oversee this crisis. Her appointment and the attempt to blame former President Donald Trump are tacit admissions that they have a crisis on their hands, but Americans know the blame lies squarely at Biden’s feet."

Gen. Flynn: 5 Lessons I Learned When the Deep State Came After Me and My Family

You do not have to watch the news for long to see that America is rapidly changing. The downward slide can be found not only in our leadership but also in the shifting definitions of right and wrong blindly accepted by many Americans today.

Our leaders would have us believe that these changing values are inevitable and that they are good. That is why they are called “progressive.”

Yet to those of us who still believe in the immortal truths upon which America was founded, their so-called “progress” is alarming, to say the least.

Here’s The Full List Of Every Lie Joe Biden Has Told As President

As President Joe Biden assumes the Oval Office, The Federalist will continue its rigorous coverage of the new White House, keeping the administration accountable with substantive fact-checking throughout Biden’s tenure.

When Trump implemented a travel ban on China in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic,
then-candidate Joe Biden railed against the executive action as “xenophobic” claiming such restrictions do not work.

Less than a year later, Biden has implemented his own travel bans on South Africa, Brazil, Great Britain, and 26 other European countries in the second week of his presidency.

President Joe's Reign of Divided We Stand Begins

Biden signed 17 executive orders on Wednesday and another 10 on Thursday. If they're not reversed by Congress or the courts, they are sure to hurt America and its people.

They will kill thousands of energy jobs in the Heartland, reopen our borders to waves of illegal immigrants and again subject us to the rules of the incompetent and corrupt World Health Organization (WHO) and harmful international agreements like the Paris (Climate) Agreement.

By his edicts on Wednesday, Biden immediately showed that when it comes to fostering national unity and building American back better, he's all talk and no walk.

Biden Logic is, to put it mildly, more like Biden Madness.

The 5 P's of Voting this November

Elections have consequences, and no doubt the Presidential election of 2020 will have enormous ones for the future of our nation, perhaps for several generations.

Research guru George Barna says, "The 2020 election is not about personalities, parties, or even politics. It is an election to determine the dominant worldview in America."

When the television became a normal part of American homes, one keen observer warned there would come a day when people would stop thinking for themselves and would believe whatever was told to them through the television. The futurist said there would consequentially come a day when Americans would vote a totalitarian government into power.

Don't let the sound bytes, the Hollywood moguls, or your favorite CNN or FOX News commentator be the extent of your digging and learning! We live in the information age, and we can do a lot of research ourselves beyond the headlines.

Here are 5 Ps to remember when voting:

1.  Past

"My grandaddy always voted Democrat."

"My mother is a staunch Republican."

While that may be true, and you love your forefathers, that is not reason enough to vote a particular way today.

Remember, it is not your granddaddy nor your mother's day. It's a different day with high stakes. Evil forces are at work in our nation to bring moral and legal changes that our grandparents could have never imagined.

2. Party

Just because you have always voted one party ticket is not enough reason to do so now. There are consequences to our voting.

I will vote for any party candidate - Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, or any other third party - that I believe (a) most reflects biblical morals and ethics, (b) will be a friend to people of faith, and (c) will do the most good for Americans.

3. Personality

"I don't like him."

"He is too rude."

"He gets on my nerves."

Listen, we're not voting for our date at the prom, a Sunday School teacher or pastor, or for Mr. Congeniality. We are voting for en entire movement.

Voting or not voting for someone because I don't like them is actually a very one-dimensional line of reasoning.

The choice is not between two personalities. "The choice is between two packages. Wayne Grudem writes, he question now facing the nation is not, 'Does Donald Trump have an exemplary moral character?' or,  'Does Donald Trump have flaws?' or even, 'Do I like Donald Trump?' The question is, 'Which of two package deals is better for the nation?'

(a) Donald Trump and Republican policies or

(b) Joe Biden and Democratic policies?

There are no other choices. The nation will either have the option (a) or option (b) as a whole package for at least the next four years, and probably longer. If I withhold support from Trump, that makes it easier for Biden to win, and thereby for Democratic policies to bring (in my opinion) great destructiveness to the nation (more specifics below.)

In making a choice between package (a) and package (b), questions about a candidate’s character of course are relevant. But, to my mind, the question is not, 'Does Donald Trump have flaws?' but rather, 'Is Donald Trump so clearly unsuited to be president that our only valid choice is to accept package (b) and the great damage to the nation that (in my opinion) will flow from Joe Biden and Democratic policies?' When I ask the question in that way, the answer is clearly No, and it isn’t even close. Package (a) is far preferable."

Agreed. There are no other choices.

4. Policy

Instead of voting based on the past, a party, or personalities, we should vote based on policy.

What has Joe Biden accomplished and what has he voted on the last 47 years in office?

What has Donald Trump accomplished and what has he voted on the last 47 months in office?

Policies affect people and society in practical ways.

The Family Research Council prepared some excellent resources with much research noting the promises made, promises kept. See the following: The Trump Administration Accomplishments

Read Trump's Religious Freedom Record is a Stubborn Fact

See Family and Religious Liberty Accomplishments of the Trump Administration

See International Religious Freedom Accomplishments of the Trump Administration

See Trump Administration Accomplishments on Life

Here is another long list of the President's accomplishments.

5. Platform

The other P that should influence our voting is party platform. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party both adopt a platform - an agenda they intend to work on and towards the next four years. Historically, the parties and Presidents stick to their party's platform about 60-70% of the time, so they are good indicators of what to expect.

Grudem again writes, "The declared policies of a candidate, and of a candidate’s party (Democrat or Republican) give a good indication of what the candidate will do if elected. In this year’s election, there is a vast difference between the policies of the two parties and their candidates."

David Clossen writes, "Although neither political party perfectly represents Christians, party platforms allow us to make thoughtful judgments regarding who we will support at election time. These platforms, which serve as proposed governing philosophies, allow Christians to see if and how the political parties prioritize issues on which the Bible clearly speaks.”

Dr. Michael Brown asks, “When it comes to the November elections, which party is more likely to protect our religious freedoms? Which presidential candidate is more likely to push against the marginalizing tactics of the radical Left?”

See Comparing the Democratic vs. the Republican Party Platforms.

Your vote matters. Make it count.
