Learn Our History

Mike Huckabee has been at work on a new project: Learn Our History. LOH exists to help the younger generations learn and appreciate history for what it is - a compass for our future. Learn Our History provides kids a fun way to learn the facts behind the most influential people and events of our nation’s past. The company’s very first product is a video series called “Learn Our History: Time Travel Academy”.

Right Reading

We have been attending a Classical Conversations homeschool training event this week. One of the joys of such events for me is browsing the bookstore. Such bookstores tend to carry very thoughtful, thinking books (as opposed to many of the feely ones out there today!). And I tend to find ones I haven't come across other places.

This one looks like one worth the shelf of any conservative thinker . . .

Rove on Bin Laden

Karl Rove comments on Bin Laden's death. See it here.

On the reading of books

The other thing that I did was I fasted from church growth books. I have a principle now where I read two dead guys to one live guy. It's because we need someone who is living outside of our world and our worldview and our mindset and our times tor really give us perspective. A lot of stuff that is coming out is wonderful but it is a fad. It's not going to be here ten years from now. You can think of all of the practical church growth books that you had on your shelf that as soon as five years went by, they were irrelevant. But reading people like Luther, Augustine, the church fathers, reading people throughout church history who have stood the test of time. You need to find a theological dancing partner. It's more important to read ten books that you read over a lifetime than read a lifetime of books.
