The Narrative of Systemic Racism Among the Police Force
Heather
MacDonald argues to yes, hold officers who use excessive force accountable, but shows there’s no evidence of widespread racial bias in the police force.
“Political
commentator and attorney Heather Mac Donald posted an op-ed in the Wall
Street Journal this week that argues police should be held accountable
when they use excessive force, but evidence of ‘widespread racial
bias’ by police doesn’t exist.
‘However sickening the video of Floyd’s arrest, it isn’t representative of the 375 million annual contacts that police officers have with civilians,’ Mac Donald wrote in her piece titled “The Myth of Systemic Police Racism.” Mac Donald continues, ‘A solid body of evidence finds no structural bias in the criminal-justice system with regard to arrests, prosecution or sentencing. Crime and suspect behavior, not race, determine most police actions.’
Mac Donald
backed up that claim with federal statistics explaining that police shot and killed
1,004 people in 2019, most of whom were armed and/or deemed dangerous. Out of
that number, about a quarter of those, 235, were black, which is roughly the
same percentage every year since 2015.”

Black Homicides and Other Stats
According to
the FBI stats on crime and the police . . .
9 unarmed
black men were killed by cops in 2019
19 unarmed white men were killed by cops in 2019
89 cops were
killed in the line of duty in 2019 – 45 of which were white males
In 2015,
cops killed a total of 1004 people – 235 of which were black men (23.41%)
In 2018,
blacks committed 53% of all homicides and 60% of all robberies, though they are
13% of the population
In 2018,
black homicides totaled 7407 – only nine of which were unarmed black men killed
by cops (0.1%).
A police
officer is 18½ times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed
black male is to be killed by a police officer (Heather MacDonald’s research of
The Manhattan Institute)
Many, many
more blacks are murdered by blacks than by white cops.
Last weekend
alone in Chicago, when the police withdrew from the city, Chicago experienced
its deadliest weekend in 60 years. 25 people killed with another 85 wounded by
gunfire. Their 911 emergency center received 65K calls on May 31 alone – more than
50,000 than usual.
African-American
Pastor Corey Brooks writes, “Liberal politicians in Illinois and across the
country have fanned the flames of anger over the past several years. Their
policies and worldview emphasize government as the solution to all problems,
except, paradoxically, when we need police. Our mayor, Lori Lightfoot, has been
unable or unwilling to put a stop to the violence in the streets of our home
city, in part because she has been unable to offer a strong defense for good
law enforcement agents doing the necessary work of making our neighborhoods
livable.
Lost in the
liberal messaging is the reality that the foundation of our society is the rule
of law. The tragic killing of George Floyd reminds us that we need better
training and screening for police officers. But the vast majority of the law
enforcement agents in our nation advance racial equality, and help black
Americans participate in the American dream.
Violence is
rampant in Chicago, and it has nothing to do with isolated incidents of police
brutality. Over Memorial Day weekend, ten African-Americans were shot and
killed in drive-by shootings.
On the south
side of Chicago, we don’t need police stepping back and retreating because of
political agendas. The logical extension of liberal police reform is for law
enforcement agents to retreat from their duties, but this is exactly wrong and
will weaken our neighborhoods.”
The media is pushing a narrative. Respond with facts. Don't just react with emotion.

Tucker Carlson: Defund the police movement distracts from the left's policy failures with the poorest Americans
"As we've
been telling you -- not that you need to be told because it's so obvious
-- this is a dark moment in the history of the country.
People will
attack you if you dare to tell the truth. They'll denounce you. They'll
target your family. They'll try to turn your friends against you and deny you
the ability to earn a living.
In the face of that -- and we've said this repeatedly because it's true, nothing is truer -- you cannot give in. Even if you do what the mob tells you to do, you will not be spared. The people on Twitter are predators. Predators are incited by weakness. They exploit it. The only solution in the face of something like this is to tell the truth unapologetically."

Libs Handcuff Police with Defund Cry
Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council shares thoughts on the Defund the Police movement:
The fringe Left: Great at making slogans. Terrible at considering consequences. Maybe "DEFUND THE POLICE" makes an edgy statement slathered in yellow letters on D.C.'s 16th Street -- but putting it on paper, like Democratic lawmakers are threatening to do, would be one of the worst policy mistakes in history. And it's not just Republicans who think so.
As usual,
the Left's new crusade to defund the police -- like "Abolish ICE!"
and "Open the Borders!" -- is full of the requisite shock value, as
everyone from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to Senator Kamala Harris
(D-Calif.) stokes their base with calls to embrace the lawlessness their agenda
depends on. But is it really a serious movement? The liberal media certainly
hopes not. Months away from a general election, outlets like CNN and the New
York Daily News are warning the crusade could be "deadly"
for Democrats. Even Joe
Biden, who's been off the reservation on policy for most of the year, knows
you don't win over voters by leaving their homes and children unprotected.
But then, this was always about rhetoric -- not reason. To the Left, the practical implications of defunding police, like crime, disorder, and mayhem, are another inconvenient sidebar. That's because, Randy Petersen points out in the Federalist, "the screams and emotions and nonstop news coverage have given the idea legs that are not easily countered without thoughtful debate." Even the Minneapolis city council, who's actually considering a defund proposal, admitted they hadn't even thought about what a "police-free future looks like."
